Message from the President
On behalf of the European Golf Association I would like to
welcome all teams, offi cials and supporters to the 2009
European Girls’ Team Championship
My special thanks go to the Finnish Golf Union for
organising this event. I would also like to thank all offi cials,
staff and volunteers who have helped with the preparations.
My thanks as well go to all members of the Kokkola
Golf Club who have been so kind as to make their challenging
golf course available to the players and spectators for
the duration of this event.
The Championship name bears a very special importance
to all teams who have gathered here at Kokkola Golf Club
in 2009. The next few days will bring together the best girls
from our member countries, who will represent, as a team,
their individual nations. I am certain that the spirit of being
a team member will inspire them to perform at their best and therefore I
am confi dent that we will see golf of the highest standard over the next few days.
I would like to wish all teams a very successful and enjoyable tournament
and that they, together with all the spectators, can take home some
wonderful memories of a very exciting golf tournament. Finally, it just remains
to be said “may the best team win”.

Welcome to Kokkola
Kokkola has a long tradition in golf. The local golf club
has become a reliable host of top level golf competitions.
Thanks to the permanent activity and efforts of the
members the course and the clubhouse can respond to the
requirements of this tournament. European Girls Championship
Competition honours the pioneers of the club and
encourages future success.
Kokkola is a town of two languages. It was founded
year 1620 by King Gustaf II Adolf and has since then
developed to a remarkable and diverse centre of Central
Ostrobothnia. Due to the fusion of four municipalities
on the 1st of January 2009 the number of inhabitants has increased to 46.000. I extend a warm welcome to Kokkola to all the players and guests.
Have a fair play in your competition and a good time in our town.
